LOTS of pictures today! But, lets be honest thats what you really come to see on the blog! :)
2/18Joe and I started out the day with yoga on the golf course again. While we were out there we saw a couple whales smacking their tales out of the water. It was really cool to see. Brooks stayed back with grandma and grandpa; they went on an adventure hike. :)
When we all got back we headed to the Kilauea Lighthouse to check out the birds and see if we could see any whales. The whales swim here from November- April for their breeding time and for warmer waters. Then they swim to Alaska to stock up on food for the summer. We saw TONS of whales. It was awesome! We saw them actually breaching and almost playing with each other. Breaching is when they jump out of the water. The water around the light house was just incredible. So many different colors of water. We saw a lot of different birds flying around too.
After the lighthouse we headed to Kilauea Bakery for lunch. We took some goofy pictures and walked around the shops.
Joe golfed in a golf scramble in the afternoon. His team won! The views around the golf course are just awesome! Ok, every view in Hawaii is just beautiful.
We grilled some dinner and stayed in the rest of the night. The guys played cards while my mom and I made some bows! :)
2/19
We headed to pool in the morning and grilled out hotdogs for lunch. Brooks is getting really good at swimming! We all take turns going in with him because the water is absolutely frigid! Brooks is the only one who doesn't mind it. As you know life is a song to Brooks so he loves to make up songs and put on little shows. He is also the official pool greeter to anyone entering or exiting the pool! :)
We went to the Smith Family Luau in Wailua that evening. It took us FOREVER to get there with many stops and set backs....(Joe got pulled over for running a stop sign. The officer let us go because we were tourists :) ) We also had to stop and ask for directions twice. But, we finally made it and we were so glad! The show was great and we highly recommend it to anyone coming to Kauai! This was our second time seeing a luau and this one was the best. It started with a tour of the grounds. The luau was located in Wailua State Park so there were awesome flowers and a crazy amount of different trees all around. Next was the Emu ceremony which is when they take the pig out of the ground after cooking for 7-8 hours. Then we all sat down for dinner for some authentic Hawaiian food. The food was amazing! After dinner they asked if anyone wanted to come on stage and learn to hula. Guess who was literally the first person on stage.......BROOKS! He jumped right up front and started shaking his booty. He was loving it! Next came the actual show which was down in an outside ampitheatre. The show took us through all the different pacific islands. Our favorite was the fire dancing! A guy was twirling fire all over and in his mouth. We had such a great night!
