This was our most low key/laziest days yet. Brooks and I could not get ourselves going. This has been the coldest day since we've been here. I know you all are gagging right now since you are in 10 degree weather and I said it was cold in Hawaii. But, the air was chilly so it wasn't a good pool/ beach day.
When we finally got going Brooks and I headed up to the playground so he could run around. Joe met us up there later and we walked over to the Princeville shopping center for lunch. Brooks was not having a very good day. Moms with three year olds word of advice do not take your child somewhere that is five hours different then your current time zone. Just don't do it. A mixture of torturous threes, (lets face it, its torturous for everyone) lack of sleep, off his schedule and just down right strong willed is not a good combination. We were all very excited for nap time!
When Brooks got up from his nap we all wanted to do different things. Joe wanted to go kayaking, I wanted to walk around a cute little town and Brooks wanted to stay inside and play with legos. After much
21 weeks and boy am I bumpin'
We came home after our hike and grilled out dinner. We had our first pineapple of the trip. Joe asked the Hawaiian lady at the grocery store how to tell if it was ripe and she said to smell the "butt" of it and it should have a strong pineapple smell. So don't be alarmed if you see us smelling the bottom of pineapples. We colored a few pictures and then Brooks crashed and we turned in shortly after.
FYI: We are surrounded by Canadians. I swear we are the minority here. Don't mind us if we start pouring maple syrup on everything and start saying "EH?" :)
2/6
We all slept in until 7:30 am today! This is a big deal considering we have been getting up at 5:30 every day. It's amazing how much better you feel with 2 more hours of sleep! Brooks was in a much better mood today so that means that Mommy and Daddy were too!!
Brooks and I set off in the morning to the playground again. (see a trend?) Brooks gets to burn off some energy while I burn off the Mochi ice cream from the night before. We played for a while then decided to check out the Princeville shopping center again. Brooks wanted a snack and I desperately wanted some iced coffee. We hung out there for awhile checking out the little shops and then headed back to the house for lunch.
We ate lunch at home and then put Brooks down for his nap. Joe went for a run while I drooled over all the adorable baby girl clothes on Etsy. We have heard from a few people about a beach down the road from us called Anini Beach. While Joe was on his run he finally found the path that led down to it. So we decided to go there when Brooks got up. When we got there we noticed a few signs that said enter at your own risk may be dangerous. But, we saw a lot of old people (don't worry mom and dad they were way older than you) walking up from the path so we figured it couldn't be too hard. So we took off down the path with our beach chairs strapped to our backs and our over flowing beach bags. I'm not going to lie I bit it a few times. I blame the fact I had flip flops on with no traction. Don't worry Lila and I are fine. I just can't say the same for my knees or the tops of my feet and my pride at that. (FYI: Salt water and open wounds do not mix well) We finally made it down to the ocean and boy were we glad we made the hike. It was breath taking. Crystal clear calm water and beautiful scenery every where you looked. There is a reef all around it so Brooks could walk out far into the water and still only be waist deep. There was a little "river" type thing running through the sand that was filled with water and Brooks was in heaven!
After spending a couple hours at the beach we headed back up the hill to our car. I was once again reminded how out of shape I am while walking. Our lovely three year old wanted to be carried up the hill so lucky Joe was the chosen one. He was also reminded how out of shape he is as well. Brooks preceded to wipe his head when we got to the top and say "Whew that was tough" haha we totally agree! We grabbed a pizza and headed home for dinner. We played a little then showered and got ready for bed. Our friends Ryan and Lucy who live on Oahu are spending the weekend with us. The flights are pretty cheap and super quick from island to island. We are hoping to do some kayaking and hiking this weekend!
Love your"old" comment!! We are excited to come! You need to be more careful... You have precious cargo on board!💋
