2/7 and 2/8

We had such a great weekend hanging out with our friends Ryan and Lucy.  We are so glad they were able to make it over to our island.

2/7
The forecast said it was going to be chilly but ended up being pretty warm! We started out the day by grabbing breakfast at a little bakery near our house.  I had my first and def. not my last acai bowl. I've been wanting to try it for so long and finally found a place that had them.  Its almost like a thicker smoothie on the bottom and then they serve it with fresh granola and fruit on top.  So good!
After breakfast we headed to Anini beach.  We learned our lesson and drove down this time. The beach is pretty long so we parked on the opposite end of where we were the day before so it seemed like we were at a brand new beach.  We hung out there for a couple hours.  Ryan, Lucy and Joe snorkeled while Brooks and I made sand castles and rode around on the boogie board.  I may have tipped him on accident while on the board so he now only likes it if its on the sand.

We headed back and grilled out at the pool for lunch and put Brooks down for a nap.  While he was napping Ryan, Lucy and Joe did a hike down to a beach that we heard had great snorkeling.  They said it was awesome and they saw a monk seal sleeping on the beach.

For dinner we headed to Hanalei to a tapas restaurant called Barracuda.  It was awesome and we pretty much ordered everything off the menu.  We topped off the night with amazing banana ice-cream.  Brooks found some friends when we were leaving and ran around like a crazy man chasing the ladies in the grass.  He had so much fun!
First time doing my hair the entire trip! Crazy I know! My hair is loving this free island lifestyle.

2/8
We headed to Hanalei Bay after breakfast and it was beautiful! We were there earlier in the week but today the water was really clear and the mountains were really clear too! We had a blast running around and watching the little kids surf.  Brooks was in heaven because the fire truck came and honked the horn for him. Only in Hawaii do fire trucks have surf boards strapped on top of their trucks! :)

Brooks by far has the most color out of all of us.  Our little olive skinned beauty is going to look Hawaiian by the end of the trip.
After the beach we grabbed some sandwiches from the largest Hawaiian man.  I was secretly excited to finally see a legit Hawaiian man.  We have been trying to get the hang of "Hawaiian Time."
Everyone is just very slow and in no hurry.  It's been an adjustment but I think it's just what we need.
We brought our sandwiches home and ate out on the lanai. (porch) We all took a nap and then headed to the pool for a few hours.  Joe dropped off Ryan and Lucy at the airport around 6:30.  What a great weekend we had with them!

  1. Glad to see you are having a wonderful relaxing time. the best snorkeling we ever had was on the Island of Oahu. It was a tourist thing called Hanamo Bay (Not sure of the spelling) there were literally hundreds of fish swimming around you. Have fun the rest of your trip1 Love you all! Aunt DeAnn
